"Good full red-ruby. Complex, refined aromas of blackberry, cedar, dark plum and herbs. Wonderfully sweet but firmly built, offering dense, smooth, complex, sharply focused flavors of dark fruits and graphite. Finishes with excellent length and a weightless quality. This is a rare wine in which the cabernet sauvignon doesn't kill the sangiovese and the two varieties actually complement each other (though the 30% cabernet component nevertheless does dominate the wine)." 91 Points International Wine Cellar

"The 2009 Il Borgo flows across the palate with sweet dark red cherries, tobacco, flowers and spices. This intriguing blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon impresses for its silky personality and long finish. All the elements come together nicely in the glass. The 2009 is a harmonious, sleek wine to drink over the next 10-12 years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024." 91 Points Vinous / Antonio Galloni

Ripe blackberry and plum notes pick up hints of earth and tobacco as this beefy red unleashes its dense tannins. Should come together with short-term aging. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. 90 Points Wine Spectator
