Poemard Cellars Shipping Policy
The purchase of alcohol by persons under the age of 21 is prohibited by law. You must be at least 21 years old to purchase wine or spirits. By placing an order through our website, you are representing yourself to us as at least 21 years of age and that the person to whom it is being shipped is at least 21 years old. We reserve the right to ask for proof of identity before processing an order.
Title to the wine you order passes to you as soon as it leaves our doors; it is up to you to know the relevant laws in your state.
An adult signature with proof of age verification is required at time of delivery. Please be aware that someone over the age of 21 must be available to sign for the package. If no one is available at the time of delivery, the package will not be left. Because of this, we suggest you ship to a work address. We cannot ship wine to PO Boxes or APO addresses.
Shipping and Delivery
We ship Ground, Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air and 3 Day Air Express Saver via FedEx:
In calculating transit times, shipping companies do not count the day the item is picked up.
All orders will be confirmed via e-mail and processed within 5 business days. We will contact you by the end of the next business day if there are any problems with your order. You will be promptly notified by email of any unexpected delays in processing and/or shipping. Most Ground Service orders will be shipped on Monday or Tuesday to lessen the chances of wine sitting in unattended delivery trucks over the weekend.
During June through August, we strongly recommend 2nd day air or overnight shipping for all orders outside VA, DC, WVA & NC. The high temperatures inside shipping trucks and warehouses can damage the wines. The integrity and safety of ground shipments can not be guaranteed, and are sent to buyers at risk. The same caution should be taken for shipments to extremely cold areas during winter
Please note that some states have laws on the shipment of alcohol that prohibit us from shipping to addresses in those states.
Orders placed on this website are not final. Your credit card is not charged automatically. A charge is put on your credit card after the product has been packed and the order is deemed complete. Please note that all credit cards are verified. You must provide a billing address that corresponds to the credit card you are using. If the billing address does not match the credit card you will be informed and the order will not be processed until we hear from you.
Shipping and Handling Costs
The shipping costs are automatically calculated at the time the order is placed. If you would like to know the shipping cost to a particular area, please select your items and enter your zip code in the shopping cart. Prices of our wines do not include shipping/handling charges, which vary depending on destination, number of bottles ordered and choice of delivery options. We offer FREE ground shipping on all orders over $350.
If you are experiencing extreme temperatures now and would like to order wines that may not be available at a later date, Poemard Cellars offers a temporary storage service. Send an e-mail to email@example.com advising us that you'd like to order now and have it shipped after the weather breaks. For each month that you plan to keep the wine with us, we will add a $5 storage fee per each 12 bottle case (or portion of), and we will keep it here until you call or email us to arrange shipping. Shipping arrangements for wine being stored with us for cold weather must be made by April 30. Shipping arrangements for wine being stored with us during hot weather must be made by October 31. If arrangements are not made by these dates Poemard Cellars will ship at its discretion. Maximum storage time is 120 days.
Refunds and Returns
Orders can not be returned unless the product is wrong or the wine is tainted. If returning a bottle of tainted wine, the cork must be put back into the nonempty bottle, thus keeping all the contents in the bottle, before it is returned to us, in order to receive a replacement bottle. If a replacement bottle isn’t available, you will be refunded the purchase price plus the cost of shipping, if applicable. Shipping charges will not be refunded if the package is returned because there was not an adult present to sign for the wine.
The buyer assumes title of the wines once purchased. By arranging for transportation of the wine, Poemard Cellars is providing a service to and acting on behalf of the purchaser. Poemard Cellars makes no representation to the legal rights of anyone to ship or import any wines into any state. The buyer is solely responsible for the shipment of wine and other goods purchased and for determining the legality and the tax/duty consequences of having the wine shipped to him or her.
