Patz & Hall

At Hudson Vineyard, the cold year and cool summer of 2006 yielded grapes with excellent natural acidity, great minerality and vibrant high-tone character. From its nut-crusted lemon cream, citrus, clove and spice aromatics to its juicy mouthful of peach and green apple flavors, this wine offers a lean, nervy expression of Chardonnay. Bright and balanced, it is already displaying focus and sophistication, and has the potential to age beautifully for years to come.

Wine Enthusiast

A lush Chardonnay that shows the minerals and acidity of cool-climate Carneros. The flavors are complicated, offering waves of Meyer lemon candy, grilled pineapple, ripe Bosc pear and woodspice. Now through 2010.

Score: 92. —Steve Heimoff, January 31, 2009.

Wine Spectator

Fruit-driven and focused, with green and yellow apple and honeydew melon at the core. Medium- to full-bodied, with subtle hints of hazelnut-tinged oak on the finish. Drink now through 2014.

Score: 92. —James Laube, March 31, 2009.

Wine Advocate

From a well-known Carneros site, the 2006 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard’s style is similar to the Dutton Ranch, with notes of nectarines, orange blossom, and white currants, but less smoky hazelnuts. This is a medium to full-bodied, stylish, pure Chardonnay to enjoy over the next 3-4 years.

Score: 91. —Robert Parker, December 2008.
