Giovanni Corino

A perfectly balanced wine with total integration of acidity, tannin and wood. It features elegant fruit, low-acidity and excellent structure. Vinification: Maceration on the skins in steel tanks for 7 days, aging in oak casks for 24 months and fining in the bottle for a few months.

Wine Spectator

Shows lots of strawberry and sandalwood character on the nose. Full-bodied, with round, chewy tannins and a long, caressing finish. There's plenty going on in the glass. Best after 2010.

Score: 92. —James Suckling, October 15, 2007.

Wine Advocate

The 2003 Barolo Vigna Giachini is easily the most successful of the 2003 Barolos. It presents excellent delineation in its aromatics as well as notable richness and depth in its dark cherries, chocolate, cocoa and licorice. Although it is already expressive and ample on the palate, another few years of bottle age should allow the wine to come together a little more. Anticipated maturity: 2009- 2018.

Score: 90. —Antonio Galloni, October 2007.
