Blazing red and insanely steep, the Ürziger Würzgarten vineyard fills the picturesque amphitheater formed by this dramatic bend in the river. Although it’s directly adjacent to the vineyards of Erden, it produces a completely different kind of wine, with exotic, spicy aromas and a mesmerizing earthiness. No other vineyard on the Mosel produces wines so bursting with tropical fruit flavors. The estate’s oldest vines are found here.

Loosen excelled in 2005, and this beerenauslese is no exception. Brilliantly pure scents of pineapple and honey zoom from the glass, then turn lush and voluptuous on the palate, adding alluring hints of peaches and baked apple. Rich and viscous, it lingers on the finish like wildflower honey.

Wine Advocate
A 2005 Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Beerenauslese represents this year’s only Loosen B.A. Confectionary aromas of strawberry and vanilla icing suggest Eiswein. In the mouth, this is incredibly rich, with an oily, nearly-buttery texture and flavors that bespeak a true super-concentrate of tiny, ennobled berries. Enveloping honey and icing-like sweetness dominate the finish for now, but distinct strawberry jam, butter cream and salt elements are present and the sheer length, breadth, and richness on exhibit here hold the promise of something sensational at points in time 15 to 30 years from now.

Sustainably Grown
Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

Wine Spectator is a lifestyle magazine that focuses on wine and wine culture. It publishes 15 issues per year with content that includes news, articles, profiles, and general entertainment pieces. Each issue also includes from 400 to more than 1,000 wine reviews, which consist of wine ratings and tasting notes.
